The craft

Tradition is a
living material.

Joe’s practice brings traditional forms, natural timber and practical use together—furniture made for homes, not display cases.

The Irish dresser

The heart of
the room.

The Irish dresser is more than storage. It is a familiar piece of domestic architecture: useful, adaptable and deeply connected to everyday life.

In a 2023 film made for Clifden Arts Festival, Joe describes making and restoring dressers in his Renvyle workshop, using traditional natural timber and adapting proportions and finishes for contemporary homes. His work respects the old form without freezing it in time.
